Review Wake up girls

Review Wake up Girls
My general reaction to the show

Green leaves are a down and out talent agency in Sendai who is looking for their next act. Idols seem to be popular at the time so they decide to form an idol group, called Wake Up Girls. Some girls show up and join the group including a girl who used to be a member of another idol group.  Can the group manage to become popular, even as popular as the top idol group of the day, the I1 club?

The bad guy in a show about singing girls
Anime shows based on idol groups are a somewhat new phenomenon in anime and Wake up Girls is the newest addition to this trend. Where this show tries to be different is that it sells itself as a deconstruction of the idol industry. While it manages to touch on this I feel it only does this in spots and for the most part it looks like a straightforward idol show just like any other.

Now I know why CG is usually used in scenes like this
As for how good of an idol show Wake up Girls is, the show is kind of a failure. For the most part the main group of girls is lacking personality and often feels like group is a gestalt entity rather than an enjoyable cast. The other characters are also either flat or have mustache twirling levels of villainy. I usually don’t notice animation quality that much but somehow this show managed to put out off model animation several times.

Stop praying you are so not getting a second season
Overall I felt that Wake up Girls is a failure at being a deconstruction of a genre and can’t even play the genre straightforward

Rating the tin idol because if there idol shows that are even somewhat popular they have to be better than this
