Summer watching part 2 people doing nothing, dolls doing everything

Honestly there are just a lot of shows to watch and after my last post another batch just appeared on crunchy roll. Apparently Thursdays a big day for anime for some reason and I have another load of shows that I need, no, should, no, am going to review simply because it’s a holiday where I live and even then there isn’t anything to do until 10pm when the fireworks start.

Chronicles of the Going Home Club

Natsuki Andou is a new high school student who has no plans to join any school and thus she says she wants to join the going home club (a euphemism for not joining a school club). Little does she know there is actually a going home club and she is now going to join that club. What does this club do? Have fun of course. This is slice of life slash comedy show that looks like it was based off of a four panel comedy manga. I found that the comedy in this show is rather on point and I found myself laughing several times while watching. A lot of the humor depends on otaku humor so the show isn’t for everyone.

Servant x Service

In the Health and Welfare office of a certain city there are three new employees, Miyoshi Saya, Hasabe Yutaka, and Yamagami (better not ask about her given name). What will their adventures be like? Servant x Service is a slice of life comedy show that manages to be about someone else than the usual troupe of four or so high school girls. It’s hard to talk too much about a comedy but I can say that this episode was rather funny and somewhat unique in anime. If you liked working you will probably like this show (the source material was by the writer of Working!)

Rozen Maiden Zurückspulen

One day a boy named Jun received a doll. The doll woke up and called herself Shinku. Then all hell breaks loose as a battle between seven magical dolls called the Alice game takes place. The details are kind of hard to parse out since it feels like the first episode happens at warp speed and feels like a recap episode more than anything else (FYI Zurückspulen means “to rewind” in German and not “confusing plot dump” like might have thought it meant) Exactly how this relates to other Rozen Maiden media is somewhat unclear although unless the second makes more sense I am dropping this. So far this is something that only established Rozen Maiden fans can understand.
